John A. Banks Sr. passed away peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2010 surrounded by his family.

John was 83, a christian, a native of Tampa and attended local schools graduating from Hillsborough High School. During World War II John proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He was employed by the Independent Insurance Company for 36 years. John was an avid sports spectator watching his favorite teams the Gators, South Florida Bulls, the Rays and of course the Bucs.

John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arline Hughlett Banks; 4 children and their spouses, Joan & Bill Bryan of Lake Mary, FL, Jean & Nick Ellison of Bartow, FL, Jackie & Geoff Dameron of Grapevine, TX, and John Jr. & Janet Banks of Bradenton, FL. John had 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. He also leaves behind 2 sister-in-laws, Sue Hughlett and Barbara Banks and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with Military Honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell on Friday, November 19th at 10:00 am.
