Prosperity - Rosetta Rebecca "Becky" Barnes French, 76, died Monday, June 8, 2009, at Columbia Heart at Palmetto Health Richland. Born on September 27, 1932, in Gettysburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late James B. and Minnie Stevens Barnes. She was retired from Kendall Company, Oakland Plant and worked for several years with the Back Porch Restaurant. Mrs. French was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church where she was a member of the WELCA, the Swingers Senior Group, and a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 24, the La Femmes 40 & 8 and was a volunteer at the Newberry Council on Aging Senior Center. Surviving are sons, Danny (Montsie) Yarborough of Prosperity and David L. (Nancy) French, Jr. of Nederland, TX; a daughter, June (Gary) Corbett of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Bill Barnes of Conway and Donald Barnes of Dolgeville, NY; a son-in-law, Butch Mills of Bennettsville; grandchildren, Brent Yarborough, Katie Yarborough Merritt, Trey Mills, Mary French, Jennie French, Caleb French and Megan Corbett; a great-grandson, Brady Yarborough. Mrs. French was predeceased by husbands, George Yarborough and David French and a daughter, Pat Mills. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church by the Rev. Paul Wollner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church, PO Box 678, Prosperity, SC 29127. © The State, Columbia, SC, 10 Jun 2009
