He has been confused with another (not famous) Daniel Boone by several well-known Boone authors of the past. Hoping to set the record straight, Jim White offered his version of the life of both (not famous) Daniel Boones in his book, "Boone Family to America 1670-1720, Vol. II," 2009.
In his book, Mr. White states that Daniel was first born of Jesse's first wife before Sarah McMahan, named Elizabeth "Betsy" Coffey, who died young in childbirth of a second child, who also died.
Daniel, son of Jesse, migrated with his parents to settle in McMinn Co., TN. Church minutes document Daniel as a member like his father, of Zion Hill Baptist Church of McMinn from 1826-1829.
After a falling out with his brother, Jonathan, over the terms of their inheritances, Daniel moved his wife, Elizabeth (McKinney), and family to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he died, his burial location unknown.
Their daughter, Elizabeth Boone, married Edward Johns, and many of their family were buried in the Johns-Stanley Cemetery in Sterling, Tuscaloosa Co., AL.
Note: The "other" Daniel Boone is memorialized on Find a Grave, as "Daniel Boon," husband of Elizabeth (Durham) Boon. She was buried in Big Springs Cemetery, Wayne Co., KY.
Information on both Daniels and their identities can be requested from The Boone Society.
