"Sunday Times" Cumberland, Maryland, 22 Apr 1951: "Midland, Apr 21- A solemn requiem high mass for Simon P. Burns, 59, former resident of Midland, who died last Saturday at his home, 226 Joseph Street, Baldwin Township, Pa., was held Wednesday in St. Wendelin's Catholic Church, Carrick, Pa. Rev. George Angel, pastor, was celebrant, Rev. Simon Kenny, Army chaplain stationed at Fort Meade and a cousin of Mr. Burns, was deacon, and Rev. Francis Flanagan, T.O.R., of St. Francis College, Loretto, Pa., another cousin, was sub-deacon. Military rites at the grave in St. Joseph's Cemetery, McKeesport, Pa., was conducted by the Joint Veteran's Burial Squad, of Duquesne, Pa. Those from this section at the funeral were Patrick J. Carroll, Simon K. Carroll, John Carroll, Miss Sarah Kenny, Patrick Creegan, John Creegan, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kenny, and Mrs. John Kenny, Cumberland; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Poland, Miss Janet Poland, Thomas Stephens, Dr. and Mrs. B.O. Coberly, Mt. Savage; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Brandt and daughter, Rose Marie; Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Manley, Miss Eileen Manley, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burns, Thomas Burns, Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Burns, Mrs. Harry Sulser, Miss Bee Reilly, Simon Reilly, Mrs. Salem Loar, Mr. and Mrs. William Dilter, Mrs. Ann Coleman, John and Hugh Coleman and John Loar, of Midland."
