| Birth: | unknown | | Death: | unknown | This shrine was built in 1918 to to deify General Gentaro Kodama (1852-1906). General Kodama served as the Chief of Staff of the Japanese army in Manchuria during the Russo-Japanese Ward (1904-05) and his leadership was largely responsible for Japan's success in the war. Of special interest to visitors to the shrine are stone sculptures of lion-like dogs (Koma-inu) at the entrance. The Koma-inu sculptures were presented by the Taiwanese people as a contribution to the shrine. General Kodama was serving as Governor General of Japanese-occupied Taiwan at the time of his death. One can have an audience with the general's spirit at this site. His physical remains are interred at Tama Reien (cemetery), Fuchu City, Tokyo. (bio by: Warrick L. Barrett)
