Ruth Solander was born and raised in Sacramento, California. After attending schools in Sacramento, Ruth graduated from Oregon State University. She returned to Sacramento and taught Physical Education for many years. It was during that time, she met her husband, Jahlmer, in 1936. Ruth enjoyed sewing, crafting, upholstering, and her garden. Ruth and Jahlmer traveled the world.
