John Grady Andreae, 67, of Modesto died Monday at Doctors Medical Center.
Mr. Andreae was a native of San Francisco. He lived in Modesto 31 years. He had retired after a 10-year career as a controller for Rogers Motor Express. Previously he taught at California State University, Chico, and California State University, Stanislaus, and at Chapman University. He belonged to Modesto Elks Lodge 1282, Tracy Elks Lodge 2031 and Walnut Creek Elks Lodge 1811, as well as the Odd Fellows Lodge, La Grange. He was a member of the St. Andrew's Society and E Clampus Vitus 58. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1954 to 1956; he belonged to American Legion Post 74 and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ripon.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Andreae of Modesto.
A memorial service will be at noon Monday at the Modesto Elks Lodge. Private burial at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, Santa Nella. Lakewood Funeral Home, Hughson, in charge of arrangements.
