Menicy was born 1816 to Judge Isaac Sheppard and his wife, Margaret Cox Sheppard.
Menicy's father Judge Sheppard, was appointed to Common Pleas Court by Gov. William Clark (of Lewis & Clark fame) of the Missouri Territory from 1813-1815. He was also County Court Judge 1821-1827 and 1834-1837.
She married Judge John C. Thomas before 1840. They were the parents of seven children. Sometime around 1858, they moved from Missouri to Fairfield, Texas and eventually settled in Houston, Texas.
Menicy's husband, John, died 5 Sept. 1886. Menicy died of pneumonia 19 March 1902.
