John W. Haynes
John Wesley Haynes, 86, who resided on RFD 3, Galax Gladeville community, passed away in a Galax hospital Sunday, January 14, 1952. He had been in declining health for some time.
He was born in, Carroll County October 9, 1875 to the late Calvin Haynes and wife, Mrs. Susan Vaughan Haynes.
Mr. Haynes is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jeanette Lineberry Haynes; three daughters, Mrs. Blanche Russell, Woodlawn; Mrs. Beulah Barker, Bristol, Va., and Mrs. Virginia Odell, Galax; six sons, Jesse Haynes, Curtis Haynes, Ernie Haynes, Everette Haynes, and Earl Haynes, all of Galax, and Byrdie Haynes, Woodlawn; one sister, Mrs. Lily Melton, Austinville; one brother, Rush E. Haynes, Galax; 26 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Gladeville Methodist Church Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., by the Rev. Ralph S. Malcomb, the Rev. R. Irvin Smith and the Rev. Warren Edwards.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
The body was removed from Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home to the church one hour before the services.
