Eva was the daughter of Thomas Brown and Katie (Bunting) Brown. Her mother second married William T. Hoge. Her siblings were; Margaret (Hellerman) born 1873, Joseph Arthur born 1875, William Bunting Brown born 1880, Edwin Hillyard Brown born 1883 and Harry B. born 1885. Eva was the second wife of John H. Powell. They met while John was Huckstering in Ventor, NJ where she lived. They were married June 29th, 1910 in Holly Beach, NJ when she was 31 years old. They had one son John H. Powell Jr. She helped raise his two daughters from his first marriage. When she died John married a third time to his first wife's sister, Elsie (Harris) Karge. He left his farm to John Jr.
