Funeral services for Ezeriah Walker, 84, of Dodson, who died in a Jonesboro clinic, May 7, 1945, were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Dodson Methodist Church, of which he was a lifelong member. Dr. D. B. Raulins of Natchitoches was in charge of the services and was assisted by Rev. C. B. White of Ruston and Rev. Roy Grant, pastor of the Dodson Methodist Church. Burial was in the Transport Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jack Emmons and five grandsons of the deceased, D. C. Gaar, M. W. Gaar, A. D. Wall, Morgan Walker, Jr., and Paul Peters, Jr.

Born in Jackson Parish, July 13, 1860, Mr. Walker was married to Frances M. Stovall, January 15, 1885, and to this union five children were born, three of whom survive. They are W. G. Walker, of Alexandria, and Morgan Walker, president of the Interurban Transportation Co., Alexandria, and Mrs. Iver W. Peterson [sic Peters] of Dodson and Natchitoches. A son, Robert J. Walker, died in August, 1937, and a daughter, Mrs. J. M. Gaar, passed away in December, 1943. His wife died in September, 1931, and he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Peters, since that time. Other survivors include twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mr. Walker was a pioneer citizen and landowner of the Stovall Post Office community in the northeastern part of Winn parish, where he settled in 1886. He moved to Dodson in 1906 to take advantage of the schools. Having engaged in farming, he retired from all active pursuits about 15 years ago. His health was good until three years ago and he was hospitalized two months prior to his death.

He was possessed of a kind and sunny disposition and leaves a host of friends among the young and old alike.
