Obituary, November, 1954

A lifelong resident of the Ulman Community, Mrs. Nellie P. Wiles, 76, passed away Monday, November 29, 1954, at her home near Ulman, following a heart attack. Mrs. Wiles was born December 2, 1877, at Ulman, the daughter of Rev. Charles M. and Harriett Sooter. She was first married in 1903 to John N. Fischer, who died in 1920, and then was married in 1922 to John L. Wiles, who died in 1948.

Mrs. Wiles is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Swim and Mrs. Ialeen Scott, both of Jefferson City; and Mrs. Christina Jarrett, of Barnett; two sons, Bryce Fischer, Tuscumbia, and Alvin Sooter, Ulman; three brothers, Mark Sooter, Eldon; Menzo Sooter, Rolla; and Wesley Sooter, Dixon; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 1, 1954 at the Mt. Zion Church near Tuscumbia with the Rev. Mark Sooter and the Rev. Thomas Seaton officiating. Interment will be made in the Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of the Hedges Funeral Home of Iberia.
