The parents and their five living children moved from North Carolina to Columbus Township, Bartholomew County, Indiana in April, 1838.

Jonas married his first cousin, Caroline Rebecca Rominger (1816-1863) on 27 Jul 1847 at Bartholomew County, Indiana. Jonas and Caroline were the parents of two known children, namely:

3. Sophia Catherine Rominger Dodd (1866-1906)
4. Jonas Abner Rominger (1868-1870)

From 1850 to 1900 Jonas was listed as a farmer, living at Haw Creek Township, Hope Post Office, Bartholomew County, Indiana.
