Jacob Rominger was the only known child of Johann Martin Rominger (1752-1779) and Elizabeth Wohlfahrt Snider (1768-1826), who married in c1777 in North Carolina.

Jacob was raised in the Moravian Community of Friedland, then in Stokes, now in Forsyth County, North Carolina. Jacob married Elisabeth Clewell Clauss (1776-1845) on 26 Dec 1801 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Some records show Elisabeth died in 1833, though most show she died in 1845 at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Many of her Clauss and Rominger relatives had moved there. Also records of her four known sons all center in Indiana. No precise burial location for Elisabeth has been located.

Jacob and Elisabeth were the parents of five known children, although there may be a sixth. The children were:

1. beata (baby boy) Rominger (1802-1802)
2. Franz (Francis) Rominger (1804-1870)
3. Naemann Rominger (1808-???)
4. Lorentz (Lawrence) Rominger (1811-???)
5. Jacob Rominger Jr. (1813-(1845?))

The son Francis lived at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Naemann (Naeman?) married Susan Keeney in 1839 at Montgomery County, Indiana and he died c1840-1844. Lawrence married Nancy Fort in 1842 at Henry County, Indiana and he died c1850-1853. Jacob presumably married Jane Keeney in 1839 at Montgomery County, Indiana (sister of Susan?). Jacob probably died before 1850.
