THE HENRY BULLETIN, Martinsville, Va., Fri., Dec. 19, 1919, p. 7, col. 1:
Mr. John L. Edwards was born in Franklin County 1843, and lived there, and in 1862 enlisted in the Civil War and served the balance of the great struggle.
After the War was over he returned to his home in Franklin County where he was born and reared.
In 1869 he made his choice for matrimony.
His choice was Miss Alzia Martin of Henry County, daughter of Sea Martin near Henry Station.
After he married he returned to his home in Franklin County and raised his family. Eight daughters and one son.
The nine children all lived to see their 21st year.
We would say it was a lucky family.
Twelve years ago he sold his home in Franklin and moved to Henry County where he bought land of the late J. H. Burgess in the Joppa neighborhood.
Written by a friend.
The 7th day of December 1919 was the day of his death.
There is no death notice for the wife of John L. Edwards, but the accident which lead to her death was noted in:
