Anna died in 1884 and the younger children were adopted by friends and Anna's relatives.

Ansel was hospitalized in Home for Disabled Soldiers in Los Angeles California. His daughter Katharine lived nearby in Redland. He died in Hiawatha Michigan while on leave from the hospital.

Nellie married William Ellsworth Dunn and moved to California.

Estelle was adopted by Andrew and Williamina Oliver and married Ernest Neal Hulley.

Katharine married Mortnimer Sooy and had two children, Neal and Estelle. They later changed their names to Van Sooy.
