Mrs. Lewis Peters, 50, the former Minnie Jane Sackett, of Traer, died unexpectedly in her sleep early Saturday morning at her home in Geneseo. Keystone township of asthma and complications. She was bedfast only one day, having been taken ill while in Traer helping to care for her mother, Mrs. William Sackett, who is in poor health. Mrs. Peters had suffered from asthma for many years, and last weeks attack was not considered as serious as others from which she had previously recovered. Heart failure probably was the immediate cause of her passing. She was found dead in bed shortly after 2 a. m. by her only sister, Mrs. Chris Hoeppner, north of Traer, who was staying with her.

A very large crowd attended the funeral service which was held here Tuesday afternoon at the Boettcher Funeral Home, with the Rev. C. E. Luce, of Center Point, Iowa former Traer Methodist pastor, in charge. Music was furnished by Mrs. Deo V. Butler and Mrs. Harold Hartman, of Geneseo township, accompanied by Mrs. Oscar Lambert. Casket bearers were Rene McElhinney, Robert Mitchell, Harold Speer and Will Peters, all of Geneseo, and Elmer Hora and Henry Knoop, of the Clutier community where the decedent formerly lived. Burial was in Buckingham cemetery. Members of the Rebekah lodge conducted an impressive service at the grave.

Mrs. Peters was born November 8, 1889 in Traer and attended school here. She married Lewis Peters, of Clutier, June 26, 1912, and the couple farmed near Clutier for twenty years. They moved to the Blessing neighborhood in 1932, and the following year to a farm in Geneseo township.

She was a charter member of the Rebekah lodge of Clutier and was a member of the Ladles' Aid and Foreign Missionary societies of the Geneseo Community church. She was formerly a member of the Oneida Round-About club of the Clutier community. Always cheery and helpful, she will be greatly missed in the neighborhood in which she made her home.

Surviving besides her husband are Stark, two sons Carl and Glenn both at home; her mother Mrs. Lena Sackett, of Traer and one brother Frank Sackett and one sister, Mrs. Chris Hoeppner, both of Traer. Her father preceded her in death about two years ago.
