Death: Mar. 30, 1915

Military Service
Henry enlisted at Lafayette, Georgia, as a Private in Capt. Wardlaw's Co C of the 60th Georgia Infantry on May 3, 1862. He was wounded Dec 13th 1862 at the Battle of Fredericksburg, was hospitalized for a slight contusion of the back, which became infected necessitating his transfer to the State Hospital on Jan 12th and to Camp Winder on Jan 20th. He returned to his company in February. He fought valiantly in The Battle of Gettysburg on July 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and took a mini ball to his left forearm. On the march from Pennsylvania he was taken prisoner of war by the enemy at the Waterloo Bridge in Virginia on July 8th. He was taken to Fort Delaware, spent time in the USA General Hospital in Washington, was transferred to the hospital at Annapolis and later sent to the federal prison at Point Lookout, Maryland where he remained until Feb 18th, 1865 when he was exchanged. He rejoined his company and fought until the end of the war. He surrendered at Appomattox on Apr 9, 1865, took the Oath of Allegiance to the United States, and was discharged.
