Robert E. Dickerson, 94, of Agency, died at 5:40pm Nov. 2, 2010, at Hospice House in Ottumwa.

He was born April 15, 1916, in Lang, Sakatchawan, Canada, to Edward Elder and Lena Gieg Dickerson. He married Veletta Myers on June 23, 1949.

A graduate of Albia High School, he served in the U.S.Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He worked for Mech-Tronics Corp. in Melrose Park, Ill., for 25 years, retiring in 1978. Upon retirement, they moved to Agency. He was a member of Ottumwa Baptist Temple.

Surviving are his wife, Veletta, and a brother, Lewis J.(Helen)Dickerson of Waukee.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dr. George Dickerson.

Funeral services will be 1pm Friday at Reece Funeral Home; the Rev. Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by O.B Nelson Post 3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post 775 Veterans of Foreighn Wars. Vistation will begin at 11am today at the funeral home with the family present from 6-8pm. this evening. Mmorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research Center, St. Paul, Minn. or Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties, Ottumwa, Iowa.
