Louis Whetzel, Age 82 years of 105 Bull Run Rd., Brownsville, died Thursday, September 27, 1973 at 10:45 a.m. He was a lifelong resident of Brownsville. He was born February 19, 1891 and was the son of the late Stephen and Mary Reusch Whetzel. He was a retired Carpenter Foreman for Hillman Barge Construction Co. He was a member of South Brownsville United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong member of Hiller Volunteer Fire Co., and the Carpenters Local, Charleroi, PA. Surviving is a daughter Mrs. E.M. (Madeline) Lyons, Wheeling, W.Va.; two sons, Raymond and Robert, both of Brownsville; six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Trissia Sprinkle Whetzel in 1962. Friends will be received in the Homer L. Crawford Funeral Home, 126 Front So., Brownsville, today after 7p.m. and Saturday 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. and Sunday until 1:30p.m. the hour of service. Rev. John H. Weaver will officiate. Interment in Lafayette Memorial Park.
Louis was a Veteran of World War I.
My Dad (Raymond C. Whetzel) remembers: His Dad taking him down to visit Louis during his childhood and he also made a special visit with his dad Averill to see Uncle Louis before he left for the service via Vietnam War so that he could see him in his Uniform.
Louis's spouse was Trissia Olena Sprinkle daughter of Marion Emanual Harrison Sprinkle and Sarah Frances Sargent of Virginia. Trissia was born on 1 Jan 1896, Riverton, Warren County, VA. and died on 30 Oct 1962, Brownsville, Fayette County, PA.
