Christian Earl, also known as Earl C., was the twelfth and youngest child of Christian and Catherine Rathbun Huss. He was born in a log cabin erected by his father.
Early became a very capable and prosperous farmer, who was noted chiefly for his prize-winning melons, his beautiful peach orchards, and his yield of potatoes.
In politics, Early was a Democrat. Fraternally, he was an Odd Fellow and also a Mason, belong to the Blude Ridge Chaper, Council and Commandery at Fremont. Early was very civic minded, having held several township offices. He was also active in the Sandusky County Agricultural Society and the Sandusky County Pioneer and Historical Society. For forty years he was a Fair Marshal at the Sandusky County fair in Fremont. Earl and Hattie belonged to the Mount Lebanon Church.
Early married Hattie Louise Bax on October 18, 1883 at the home of Rev. Michel Long. Earl and Hattie had six children: Alfred Earl, Clay Lemmon, Harry Braund, Lillie Mae, Floyd Eugene, and Laura Ella.
