Charles Thomas Nicholson was born in Maysville, Kentucky on February 5, 1866, and died in Chapman, Kansas, August 9, 1914.

Mr. Nicholson came to Kansas when but five years old and has since then made it his home. He was married to Agnes McGrath, of Topeka, October 18, 1892. To this union were born six children, three of whom with his wife have gone to their eternal rest. He was married to Della Alcorn, June 2, 1913, who with his three daughters, Anna, Frances and Teresa are left to mourn a loving and devoted Husband and Father. He also leaves to moourn his loss, three brothers, John, Michael and William and three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Cushing, Mrs. M.B. Nicholas and Mrs. Wm. Hannan.

Death was caused by stomach trouble from which he had suffered for many years and although he had not been well for some time, his death comes as a shock to all.

The funeral took place on Monday at nine o'clock at St. Michael's Church where Requiem high mass was celebrated by Father O'Brian, of Junction City, assisted by Father Rielly, of Abilene, and Father Daly of Chapman. After mass was celebrated, Father Rielly delivered the funeral sermon which was very beautiful and impressive. The vast concourse of friends at his funeral showed the love and respect in which Mr. Nicholson was held by all who knew him.

For many years Mr. Nicholson has been a salesman, driving a wagon out through the surrounding country and had friends by the score.

Mr. Nicholson was a man of sterling qualities, a true Christian, a good neighbor, a kind friend and a man who will be sadly missed.

A precious one from us has gone

A voice we loved is stilled

A place is vacant in our home

Which never can be filled

God in his wisdom has recalled

The boon his love had given

Though the body slumbers here

The soul is safe in Heaven.
