"Whereas Jacob Elliott, son of Exum and Catharine Elliott, in the County of Surry and State of North Carolina and Mary Peelle, daughter of Ruben and Rhodah Peelle of the same place, having declared their intention of marriage with each other before a monthly meeting of Friends held at Deep Creek in the County and State aforesaid and after due enquiry, nothing appearing to hinder, were allowed, by said meeting to proceed. Now these are to certify, whom it may concern , that for the full accomplishement of their said intention this Fourteenth Day of the eleventh month in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Ten.
"They, the said Jacob Elliott and Mary Peelle appeared at a Public meeting of Friends at Swan Creek Meeting House in the County of Surry and they, the said Jacob Elliott and Mary Peele, did in a public manner openly declare that they took each other for husband and wife, and as further confirmation thereof they, the said Jacob Elliott and Mary Peelle, did to these presents set their hands, she according to the custom of marriage assume the name of her husband.
