Marlin Maxwell (February 16, 1919 - November 24, 2008)
Marlin F. Maxwell, age 89, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, formerly of Brookfield, died Monday, November 24, 2008, at the Phoebe Home in Allentown. A funeral service will be Tuesday, December 2, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Park Baptist Church in Brookfield with Rev. David Blakley officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Brookfield. Marlin F., son of Milo and Alta Belle (Johns) Maxwell, was born February 16, 1919, in Linn County. On November 7, 1942, he married Lois Jeanne Knox who preceded him in death August 28, 1995. Mr. Maxwell had been Assistant Manager of Sears Roebuck and Co. in Brookfield and later a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service. He and his wife, Lois Jeanne had owned Country Line Gifts and Antiques in Brookfield for several years, retiring in 1982. He was a US Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Park Baptist Church in Brookfield where he was a boy's Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a member of the Brookfield Kiwanis Club for 20 years. Survivors include one daughter, Sharon J. Benson and husband, M. Stokley of Fogelsville, Pennsylvania; granddaughters, Julie Bachman and husband, Matt of Lititz, Pennsylvania, Jennifer Wagner and husband, Karl of Wilmington, Delaware, and Sara Hawkinson and husband, Joseph of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; great-grandchildren, Jenna and Andrew Bachman and Grant Wagner; and one sister, Shirley M. Greiner and husband, Milton of Garnett, Kansas. His parents, a brother, Glynn C. Maxwell, and a sister, Kathleen A. Waas also preceded him in death.
