Texas Ann Carter Neal and her husband Isaac Lewis Neal raised 15 children and 2 grandchildren in their home in Sunnybrook, Wayne County, Kentucky. She was my Grgramma, her daughter Dora was my granma.

Texas's eyesight was taken from her about 1929, a complication of diabetes. From all that I've been told she was the sweetest lady you'd ever have the pleasure to meet. Her grandaughter, (my aunt)told me that because of her blindness she had more time to visit and talk with her. Not that she sat around doing nothing. I've been told she would pitch in peeling vegetables, or whatever she could do to help. And she was sharp, she could tell by the sound of a person's walk who they were as they came across her porch to the front door.

I only remember meeting her once as a very young girl, but in that visit she managed to make me feel very special, and I wish we had more time together. Joyce
