Mr. Kendrick, a native of Thomasville, Georgia, came to Tampa with his family in 1866. His family traveled from Georgia via boat down the St. John's River and then by wagon to Tampa. He attended Hillsborough High School and in 1893 attended the South Georgia Military Academy. During the Spanish-American War he was a forage master in the Tampa area. Later he was in construction work. Mr. Kendrick was an active member of the Seminole Heights Presbyterian Church, Hillsborough Lodge and the Knights of Pythias. For the past 20 years he was in business with the Martin Outdoor Advertising Company. Louis became ill while attending a meeting of the Hillsborough Masonic Lodge at which time his son, Edward T. Kendrick, was receiving a Master Mason's degree. Edward represented the Kendrick family as being a fifth-generation Mason.
