"Rev. Enoch Jenkins, was born in western New York, Oct 21, 1808. He was son of Rev. Herman and Nancy (Brown) Jenkins, and grandson of Rev. N. Jenkins. He was licensed by the Chautauqua Q.M. [Freewill Baptist] and ordained about 1855, his first pastorate being with the Heart Prairie, Wis., then recently organized. His ministry continued in Wisconsin and Iowa, being characterized by great loyalty to the denomination."

Friday, Jan. 22, 1892 Waterloo Daily Courier, page 3:
Death, of Elder Jenkins. Rev. Enoch Jenkins, well known in
this city and county, died at Des Moines on Thursday last, at the age of 83 years. He was born in western New York Oct. 21, 1808, the son of Rev. Herman aud 'Nancy (Brown)Jenkins, and a grandson of Rev. N. Brown. He was licensed by the Chautauqua quarterly meeting, and ordained about 1855,[Freewill Baptist]. His first pastorate
was the church at Heart Prairie, Wis., then recently organized. His ministry was confined to Wisconsin and Iowa, and for many years he was an active worker, earnest in every effort for good, and never hesitating to speak the word which might lead to better living and habits. Two children survive himó-Frank D., of Des Moines, and Rosetta, who lives in Nebraska. The body was brought here for interment beside his wife, who died about four years ago.
Funeral services were held at Grace M. E. church Saturday afternoon, Rev. Ensign officiating."
