The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville.
Mr. Albers died on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at Masters Health Care Center.
He was born March 4, 1918, in Jersey City, N.J., to the late Louis Albers and Katherine Ward. Mr. Albers was retired from Western Electric in Kearney, N.J., and owned John's Tavern in Jersey City. He was of the Catholic faith.
His family includes two daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Barbara Albers and Dr. John M. Jackson of Cookeville and Marylou Albers and Robert J. Whitaker of Cookeville; one sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Gerard Clausing of Cookeville; a good friend, Theresa Spears of Cookeville; six grandchildren and spouses, Dr. John A. and wife Julia Jackson of Nashville, Dr. Ed Jackson of Tampa, Fla., Eric Albers Jackson of Cookeville, Robert M. and wife Courtney Whitaker of New York City, Michael R. and Joseph R. Whitaker, both of Cookeville; and one great-granddaughter, Claire Marie Whitaker of New York City.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Sandor; one daughter, Susan Albers; two brothers, Louis and James Albers; and one niece, Johnlynn Marie Whitaker.
Father Don Loskot, SDS, will officiate at the services.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons of Mr. Albers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at 421 N. Washington Ave., Cookeville, 38501.
