Geo. Myers Dies From Suffocation - Services Held Tues

Funeral services were conducted for George Christian Myers at 2:30 p.m. October 3 at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. O. K. Oelke officiating.

Pallbearers were Joe Steenson, John Wagner, Forrest Butler, Glen Paulsen, Art Peterson and Nude Butters. Flowergirls were Reva Steenson, Leatha Cook, Marjorie Elliott, Carrie Klein, Lola Silk, Irma Peterson and Alva Milby.

Interment was in Hillside Cemetery.

George Myers died from suffocating while loading sand and gravel from a storage bin. The sand and gravel was damp and became packed in the upper part of the bin. Mr. Myers climbed up with a shovel to knock some loose to finish loading his truck. The sand came loose suddenly and knocked Mr. Myers into the chute where he was buried beneath about three or four feet of sand. The accident happened about 4 p.m. o'clock. He was removed from the bin about 4:40 p.m. through a hole which had been cut in the side.

Obituary - George Christian Myers was born in Gliden, Iowa, May 5, 1884 and died September 29, 1950 at the age of 66. He moved to Clarks, Nebraska at the age of 5 years with his parents. He was united in marriage to Josie Kinney of Silver Creek, Nebraska February 14, 1906. To this union three children were born; two sons: Carl of Green River, Wyoming and Cecil of Anaheim, California and Mrs. June Steenson of Wolbach, Nebraska.

Surviving besides the wife and children are two brothers, Roy of Milwaukee, Oregon and Elmer of Vancouver, Washington and four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Ostrander of Tacoma, Washington, Mrs. Lillie Ostrander of Genoa, Nebraska, Mrs. Fred Pitchford and Mrs. Myrtle Bamesberger of Green River, Wyoming and three grandsons.

George Myers farmed in Nebraska until 1936 when he moved to Green River, Wyoming. He was employed on the Union Pacific railroad for nine years and since then he has worked for the city of Green River, Wyoming until the time of his death.
