D. Adelia Cunningham, age 89, died December 16, 1996, at the extended care unit of Community Hospital, in Anderson, Indiana, after a five-week illness. She was born on April 18, 1907, in Florida Station, Indiana. She was a 1926 graduate of Huntsville High School and attended Indiana Business College. She worked at Delco Remy from 1936 to 1940. She was a member and past president of the Friendly Neighbors Home. She was a member of Demonstration Club for more than 50 years. She was a member of Momentous Craft Club of Lapel and Madison County Historical Society. She wrote seven family history books after extensive genealogical research.

Survivors include: her husband, John William Cunningham, who she married December 15, 1928; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Robert Anderson, of Lapel; a sister, Mary Crawford; a sister-in-law, Grace Brown; three grandchildren, Carol Wickersham, of Roanoke, Virginia, Cathy and Duke Hensley, of Pendleton, and James Anderson, of Lapel; nine great-grandchildren, Ryan Wickersham, Megan Wickersham, Shane Hensley, Angie Hensley, Jason Hensley, Eric Hensley, Jessica Anderson, Robert Anderson and Katie Anderson; a great-great-grandson, Brodie Hensley; two step-great-great-grandsons, Blake VanVorhies and Tony VanVorhies; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Charles Franklin and Emma Alpha Bodkin McCord; six brothers, Everett McCord, Charles Fairrel McCord, Wade McCord, Wayne McCord, Herman McCord and Howard McCord; two stepbrothers, Roy Ringo and Floyd Ringo; a sister, Hazel Cook; her stepmother, Maud McCord; and a grandson, Robert William Anderson

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, in Lapel, with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Center, in Anderson.
