John Pferrer, aged 85 and a native of Germany, died at his home in Brownstown Monday night at 9 PM. He had been ill for sometime.
Mr. Pferrer had been engaged in the ice business in Brownstown for many years and was well known in that part of the county.
He was born January 14, 1854 and came here 55 years ago. He was married in Germany to Regina Koper, who died several years ago.
Mr. Pferrer was a member of St Ambrose Catholic church in this city. He was the father of twelve children of whom seven survive. The surviving children are Mrs. Theresa Elstrod, Mrs. Hettie Overstreet and Mrs. Mary Pounds of Indianapolis; Mrs. Ivy Waskom of Crawfordsville; Mrs Inez Robertson of Brownstown, Martin P Pferrer of Brownstown and John Pferrer of Medora. Seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral survices will be conducted Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock from the Catholic Church here followed by burial in the Catholic Cemetery.
