She was the eldest of 12 children born to the late Elizabeth & Alphonsus Jordan of Riverside, NJ. She was a 1932 graduate of Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill, NJ, where she had been recognized for Distinguished Scholarship, and honored with a special award for Elocution for her gifted one-person performance of Act IV, Scene 1 of Shakespeare's King John.
After graduation, she worked more than nine years at Sears, Roebuck & Co., where she often modeled for the "Sears Thriller" weekly print advertisements. In 1942, she joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Washington Field Office. She soon became the Assistant Chief Clerk in 1944.
She married Joseph "Joe" R. Cannon, an FBI agent, on December 12, 1951. An attorney, her husband went to work fat the U.S. Department of Justice. He died on May 22, 1973.
After the death of her husband, Mrs. Cannon went to work at the Riggs National Bank in Washington where she retired in 1975. She lived in the Washington, D.C. area for more than 50 years and had been an active volunteer at the St. Ann Catholic Church, the Archdiocese's Cathedral Latin School, and the Blessed Sacrament Parrish, all in Northwest Washington.
She was also a member of the Sodality of Mary, and often volunteered to attended funeral Masses for those who died without surviving family or friends. A lifelong Democrat, she was an avid reader and followed national and local politics closely. In 2003, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Margaret Cannon, Maureen Cannon (Dr. Arnold Levy), & Marie Cannon (Louis Paturzo); two grandchildren, Katie Paturzo & Matt Paturzo; her sister, Marceila Jordan; nephew, William Patrick Cannon; other relatives.
Interment followed Mass of Christian Burial offered at the Shrine of The Most Blessed Sacrament, Washington, D.C. Arrangements by the Devol Funeral Home, Washington.
