Funeral services for William Gillespie, 71, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist Church here with the Rev. Charles Shepard officiating. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery.
William James Gillespie was born in Fentona, county Tyrone, Ireland on October 1, 1883 and passed away at his home near Cushing, Nebraska July 13, 1955.
He was baptized in infancy in the Presbyterian church. Mr. Gillespie came to this country when he was 2 1/2 years old. The family homesteaded a farm east of Greeley, later moving to a farm five miles north of Wolbach. In 1945, he moved east of Wolbach and later to Farwell, then Cushing, Nebraska.
On October 6, 1915 he was united in marriage to Margaret Hardy. To this union, five children were born.
Survivors besides his wife are five children, Lee of Lincoln; Leona Jurgensen, Burwell; Viola NcNelis, Boise, Idaho; Hazel Prell, Lincoln; Doris Parker, Compton, California; nineteen grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Anna Allard of Omaha and Margaret Menter of Casper, Wyoming, and many other relatives.
