Born in Sand Lake, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Lobick Malik and wife of the late Eugene J. Barcher . Helen was raised in Sand Lake and was a graduate of the Averill Park High School. Helen had resided in Wynantskill before moving to Melrose in 1967. She was a homemaker and, as a child, was a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park. She was a former communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill and Assumption St. Paul's Church in Mechanicville. Helen enjoyed knitting, crocheting and traveling the United States with her husband. Helen was the mother of the late James J. Barcher and sister of the late Adam and John Malik, Anna St. Clair, Mary Sheehan, Sophie Winnicki and Beatrice O'Brien. Survivors include her son, Eugene R. (Gail) Barcher of Averill Park; her grandchildren, David Barcher of Poestenkill, Laura Lewis of Acworth, Ga., and Douglas Barcher of North Greenbush; her great-grandchildren, Jordan and Zachary Lewis and Douglas Barcher Jr. and Kara Barcher ; a brother, Paul Malik of Averill Park; her sisters, Alexandra Zampini of North Greenbush, Eva Lindemann of Vero Beach, Fla., Edna Harrington of Averill Park and Pearl Ayres of Brooksville, Fla.; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Saturday 10 a.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel Inc., 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park and 10:30 a.m. at St. Henry's Church, Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral chapel on Saturday 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy.
