Wiley grew up with his nine brothers and sisters in a large busy home in the small town of Huntsville, in east Texas. When he was an adult Wesley attended Texas A&M University earning a degree in accounting. He soon went to work as Chief Clerk for Gulf Oil Refining at their plant in Port Arthur, Texas.
Wesley married Gussie Laura Oliphint before World War I and they had daughters Olive in 1915 and Laura in 1922. Due to being a family man and his job in a critical war industry, Wiley did not serve in WWI.
As was his father, Wiley was a lifelong Mason and member of the John A Brashear Masonic Lodge 763, the Syria Temple, and the Pennsylvania Consistory.
Wiley had a very successful career with Gulf and was transferred to corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the 1930s. Eventually he became Chief Comptroller of the corporation and retired after a forty-one year career.
Wiley passed away at age seventy-eight at his home in Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania. He was interred at Jefferson Memorial Park in Pleasant Hills. He was survived by his wife Laura, his two daughters, and his sister Annie Belle.
