Rasmus Johnson Passed Away at Home Here Tuesday Following Long Illness
Funeral services will be held at the Meckling Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday for Rasmus Johnson, who passed away at his home in Vermillion Tuesday noon after an illness of about a year. Mr. Johnson was 74 years of age at the time of his passing. Rev. George S. Natwick will conduct the last rites and burial will be at Bluff View Cemetery.
Rasmus Johnson was born January 4, 1872 in Denmark and came to Clay County in 1890 when he was 18 years old. He has lived in Clay county since that time, and has been a resident of Vermillion for the past three years. Mr. Johnson was married to Johanna Robertson October 23, 1895, in Vermillion.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the Meckling Lutheran Church.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his widow, four sons and five daughters. The surviving sons are Arthur Johnson and Edwin Johnson of Meckling, Hans Johnson of Yankton and Albert Johnson of Hudson. The surviving daughters are Mrs. Anna Engelbrecht of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Marie Morgan of Lubbock, Tx., Mrs. Lillian Fillmore of Emerson, Nebr., Mrs. Rose Johns of Sioux City, Ia., and Mrs. Lorena Hughes of Seattle, Wash. He is survived by 33 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The Elmore-Wagner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
