Mrs. Emma H., wife of Rev. Geo. S. Watson of Los Angeles, California, departed this life October 25, 1900, aged 58 years, her birthplace being near Carlisle, Indiana. She had the great advantage of having been both well-born and well-bred. Her father, Rev. Nathan Hinkle was a lineal descendant of Martin Luther, while her mother's ancestors were Scorch Presbyterians, but became identified with the Methodist Episcopal Church. The deceased became a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Oakland, California in 1876, and was married in 1887. One of her pastors has given this testimony of her Christian character: In her religous nature she was quiet, earnest and deeply spiritual. Her life was a loving service to her Master."
