COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Doyle L. Allen, 91, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper & Huddleston Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. today, Monday, Sept. 17; and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the funeral home.

Mr. Allen died on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at Standing Stone Health Care in Monterey.

He was born on Aug. 22, 1910, in Jackson County to the late George Washington and Etta Gay Allen.

He was an educator/superintendent. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cookeville and the Putnam County Retired Teachers Assoc. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.

His family includes nephews George Allen of Antioch and Mark Allen of Cookeville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Hollis and Walter Rhea Allen, Ruth Holman and Rose Nell Featherston.
