MUNCIE--Betty Lou Cunningham Bowlby, 87, of Muncie, passed away Thursday at her home.
Betty Lou was born in Muncie to the late Virgil and Garnette Smith. She graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1941. She worked as the budget and audit secretary for 38 years at Muncie Community Schools, retiring in 1979. She loved music, animals, and shopping.
Betty Lou is survived by her husband of 11 years, Howard Bowlby of Muncie; a step-daughter, Dian Daugherty (husband-Glenn) of Muncie; a step-son, Bill Bowlby of California; and two step-grandchildren, Abby Daugherty of Muncie, and Chris Daugherty (wife-Monica) of Yorktown.
Betty Lou was preceded in death by her first husband of 41 years, Monroe Cunningham, and a brother, Gene Smith.
A funeral service to celebrate Betty Lou's life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie, IN. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember one hour prior to services from 12 to 1 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
