Salomé graduated from Smith College in 1883, and in 1885 she married Minton Warren, who was teaching Classical Studies at John's Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She and Minton had two children, a son Machado and a daughter Francisca.

In 1899, Minton was called to Harvard as Professor of Latin because he is considered "the most eminent of Latin scholars of America" with a Ph. D. from Strasburg University and his Professorship at John Hopkins to his credit. The family moved to Cambridge, Mass.,
