This memorial was originally entered in good faith into the Evergreen Cemetery listing for Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa, based on a cemetery record book that indicated that Abel had purchased a plot (O.P. 249) for his wife Sarah J. Regester in 1870. Other researchers evidently assumed that Abel was also buried in the same plot, though without a headstone for confirmation.
Thanks to updated sources now available through the Ancestry website for certain death records for Iowa, a "Standard Certificate of Death" # 077-4994 was found for Abel C. Craig that provided clarification of his full given name, birth and death date information, and that he was actually buried in Winterset, Madison county, Iowa following his death on Oct. 13, 1924.
Another contributor has posted a photo of the joint monument for Abel C. Craig and his next wife Alvira Craig, both buried in the Winterset City Cemtery at Winterset, Madison county, Iowa. This memorial is being "moved" to that location a/o May 9, 2018.
A photo of the Craig family plot in Evergreen cemetery in Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa, is being left on this memorial to show where that part of the Craig family was buried, but obviously now it has been determined that the joint monument for Abel and his second wife Alvira are not present in Evergreen Cemetery.
This memorial is being updated with middle name "Carrey" and DOB/DOD information on May 9, 2018 per the death certificate information. However, that spelling may be incorrect - it may well be that the middle name was/should be "Cary" done in tribute to the maiden name of his mother, but not sure if Abel used that version himself during life or if the certificate of death spelling inadvertently used "Carrey" instead of "Cary". Any clarification would be appreciated.

Note: this memorial updated August 22, 2017 with parent relationship links per edit request. Am accepting these links in good faith, but without specific DOB/DOD information for Abel (at that time) to confirm. The biography for the father, however, does appear to reference this Abel Craig and his marriage that is known of.
----------------
Married to Sarah J Regester (first marriage, it is believed, however). She is buried in this plot, having died on or about August 7,1870, making her one of the earliest burials in the newly established (May 1870) Evergreen cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa.
It appears from Evergreen cemetery notes that Abel remarried, but to whom, when, and where wasn't known. A spouse link to Alvira Craig entered on May 8/9, 2018 per edit request.
There is a child, Charles D Craig (1874-1876), also buried on lot O.P. 249 in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa, that may well be a son of that second marriage.
