| Birth: | Sep. 20, 1872 Harrison County, USA | | Death: | Jan. 5, 1954 Scottys Junction Nye County Nevada, USA | Walter Scott, more commonly know as Death Valley Scotty, was part of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, desert prospector, but made his living by getting investors to invest in his non-existant Death Valley gold mine. He became good friends with one of the investors, Albert Johnson, who built a vacation home in Death Valley that is commonly called Scotty's Castle, even though Scott did not own, design, or build it. Scott died of internal bleeding. Newspaper accounts at the time said that he died at the castle, although he actually died in a tavern in Slim's Corners, Nevada (Now Scotty's Junction), on the way to the nearest hospital in Las Vegas. He is buried with his dog, Windy, on a hill directly above the castle, which is now a popular tourist attraction. (bio by: Alan Lopez)
