Norman A. Ruhlman Sr.

HAMPSTEAD, MD - Norman Amos Ruhlman, Sr., 87, died Friday, October 22, 2010, at his residence. He was the husband of Grace A. (Calp) Ruhlman, who died in 1994.
Born October 27, 1922, in Carroll County, Md., he was the son of the late Noah Henry Ruhlman and Mamie Feeser Ruhlman.
He was a longtime farmer and carpenter. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Surviving are his children, Norman A. Ruhlman, Jr. of Broadtop, Robert E. Ruhlman of Taneytown, Md., Martha J. Ruhlman Selby of Helene, Mont., Janet Marie Ruhlman Leidy of Westminster, Md., and Edith May Ruhlman Ballard, Henry E. Ruhlman, and Roger L. Ruhlman, all of Hampstead, Md.; his sister, Kathryn Ruhlman of Daytona Beach, Fla.; his 24 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Doris Ruhlman; his grandson, Norman A. Ruhlman, III; his brother, Woodrow Ruhlman; and his sisters, Hattie Wisner, Annie Kessler, and Sarah Richeson.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, Md., where a funeral service will be held 12 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. David Bare officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
