Funeral services for Eliza F. Hayen, 74, were held Monday Morning, Dec. 30, at St. Matthew Lutheran church with burial in Wayne Zion cemetery. Rev. Harold L. Naig officiated.
Mrs. Hayen died Thursday night, Dec. 26, after a short illness. She was born in Wayne Township April 28, 1900, daughter of Frederick and Engel Dirks Schuette.
She received her early education in the rural schools of Jones County. On Feb. 4, 1920 she married Herman H. Hayen. The couple farmed in Wayne Township until 1940 when they moved to Monticello.
Mrs. Hayen was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran church.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Wilma) Stephenson, Scotch Grove, and Mrs. Arlene Miller, Monticello; three grandchildren, and a brother Henry Schuette, Monticello.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Casket bearers ere Gerald Dirks, Dale Mueller, Dean Hayen, Carl Folkers, Fred Butschi and Carl Schoon.
