Clark was born 25 Dec. 1857 to Dr. Abraham Browne (1823-1875) and Helen Buckingham (1828-1905). At the age of 16, he became a telegraph operator and went to work at the Big Four Railroad in Tower Hill, Illinois. On Jun 1881, he married Ella Charlotte Guinnee, daughter of Michael Guinnee and Mary Ann Cooper, in St. Louis, Missouri. They had 4 sons. The first two died at 6 months of age: Clarence, 1882, and Frances, 1883. The other two sons were: Roy Cleveland (1885-1954) and John Paul (1887-1957). Ella died in 1899 at age 33.
In 1902, he married Georgia McCloud. They lived in Champagne, Illinois, and then moved to Russell, Kansas, where he worked for the Terminal Railroad Assoc. of St. Louis, Missouri. They moved to Venice, Illinois, where Carl Gilbert was born (1904-1981) and Helen Ida was born (1905-1928). They moved to New Albany, Indiana, in 1906. Clark worked for the railroad but the family was forced to leaved when the Ohio River flooded in January 1907. The family moved to East St. Louis, Illinois, where Clark worked for the St. Louis Railroad Association once again. Here Olive Bernice was born (1907-1982) and Harold McCloud was born (1913-1985).
Clark retired in 1937 at the age of 80. He died 17 Aug 1948 at the age of 90 years 3 months and 17 days.
