Mrs. Edward Scott passed away at her home in North Grove neighborhood Tuesday, January 29, 1929 after an illness of a couple weeks of flue and other complications.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the Baptist Church in Emerson conducted by pastor Rev. John Gordon Barnett. Burial was made in the North Grove Cemetery.
Lucy A. Scott, daughter of Ross and Eliza Bowen, was born in Boone county, Indiana, Nov. 24, 1862 and departed this life Jan. 29, 1929 at the age of 76 years, two months and five days.
She grew to womanhood and was married April 5, 1875 to Edward Scott at Lebanon, Indiana. Ten children came to blesa this home. Five of them with the father preceded her in death.
She was converted when a young girl and united with the Presbyterian church. She later united with the Baptist church and was a faithful Christian. With her husband and six children she moved from Indiana to Iowa in October, 1902, locating on the farm where she lived until her death.

Lucy A Bowen, daughter of Ross and Eliza Bowen was born in Boone County, Indiana November 24, 1852 and departed this life January 29, 1929, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 5 days.
She grew to womanhood and was married April 5, 1875 to Edward Scott at Lebanon, Indiana. Ten children came to bless this union. Five of them to bless the father preceeded her in death. ( I'm unsure of the preceeding 2 lines. It is very faint in the paper)
She was converted at as a young girl and united with the Presbyterian church. She later united with the Baptist church and was a faithful Christian.
With her husband and six children she moved from Indiana to Iowa in October, 1902 locating on the farm where she lived until her death.
Five children, Bret L of Hastings; Alfred M of Nodaway; Charles E or Hastings; Mrs Lillie Hamel of Fort Jones, Calif; Mrs Eva Bradway of Hastings; two brothers, Alfred Bowen of Lebanon, Ind, and George Bowen of Hasting and sixteen grandchildren mourn her passing.
