Edward grew up on a farm north of Eliasville, TX. Attending Eliasville schools.
The Ashley boys took odd jobs to help pay for the farm during the depression. They would bail hay, shuck corn, pick cotton, drive cattle even clear prickley pear cactus.
Ed became a mechanic, working on farm equipment. Then moving to IL. for a job in oil field with his brothers.
Inducted into the Army from 1944-1946. He was infantry & cook.
Returning to IL. he married then spent time moving around TX. Working mostly in oil field as a mechanic. Finally settling in East TX. working on diesel motors.
Died of heart complications.
Arthur Edwards name is ingraved on the War Memorial in Graham, Young Co. TX. Under the WWII section. Located on the Graham Downtown Square.
