Frank John Holley, 90, passed away on December 10th after a lengthly illness. he had been a resident of Vermilion since 2002 and was a resident of Kingston of Vermilion.

Mr. Holley was born on January 7, 1918 in Budapest (Haralson County) Georgia to the late Frank J. and Margaret H. (nee Rado) Holley Sr.

Mr. Holley was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp and saw duty during WWII in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre and also participated in the Salerno Beach invasion in Italy.

He was employed through Ohio Operating Engineers local #18 for 30 years from which he retired in 1973.

Mr. Holley was a member of the Amherst American Legion Post #118. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, traveling and gardening and during the 50's and 60's he coached Little League Baseball.

Survivors are his sons Dennis J. (Jeanne) Holley of riverview, FL; kenneth (Linda) Holley of South Amherst; Frank J. III (Lynn) Holley of Ponte Vedre, FL and Dale (Susan) Holley of Fernandina Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and his sister Julia M. Barone of Lorain.

Mr. Holley was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Mary Theresa (nee Tobicash) Holley on June 9, 2002; brother Louis S. Holley in 1999 and sister Margaret E. Acs-Behlke in 2008.

Friends may call on Monday, December 15 from 11:00am - 1:00pm at Hempel Funeral Home in Amherst with services at 1:00pm from the funeral home.Rev. Fr. Denis St Marie, pastor emeritus of Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in South Amherst officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Amherst Military Honor Guard unit with burial following in Calvary Cemetery.
