Brunswick - Sim Bachman, 63, died Friday at Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center of Brunswick. The native of Columbus, Ohio, was a former resident of Savannah and had lived in Glynn County for the past 33 years. He was a graduate of Fair Avenue High School in Columbus, Ohio and attended Armstrong State College in Savannah. He was a veteran, who served in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed with Golden Isles Office Equipment and was a professional banjo player and leader of the "Good Ole Boys Band" of Blanche's Courtyard for 24 years. He had played at Epworth by the Sea, Honey Creek, Elderhostel Cruise Ships and with the U.S. Air Force Tops and Blues Talent Show. He was a member of College Place United Methodist Church and a former member of St. Simons Jaycees.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie W. Bachman, Brunswick; one daughter, Beri Lindsay, Brunswick; one son, Scott Bachman, Riverdale; one brother, Christian Bachman, Mendocina, Calif.; and one grandson, Chris Lindsay, Brunswick.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at College Place United Methodist Church of Brunswick with the Rev. Franklin Pierce officiating. Burial will be at 5:30 p.m. in Brooklet Cemetery. Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
