Actress. Born to parents of Jamaican descent, she initially studied psychology and received a BS degree from Hunter College. She worked as a secretary while acquiring acting experience in local theater, and also trained at The Actors Studio. After making her Broadway debut with a small part in the production "Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright" (1962 to 1963), MacLachlan signed a contract with Universal Studios and found her niche as a guest star on scores of prominent TV programs over the next 40 years. They include "The Fugitive", "Star Trek", "I Spy", "The Bill Cosby Show", "What's Happening!", "Murder, She Wrote" and "ER". She had a recurring role as Polly Swanson in the series "Archie Bunker's Place" (1980 to 1981). Among her film credits are "...tick...tick...tick..." (1970), "Halls of Anger" (1970), "Darker Than Amber" (1970), and a memorable supporting part in the acclaimed picture "Sounder" (1972).  (bio by: C.S.)
